In today’s world governments are grappling with new Public Policy issues which are more citizen centric and require complex delivery systems with appropriate llegislative back up. Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are also progressively getting involved in nation building processes in the Public Policy domain through advocacy for performance and service delivery. The Public Policy apparatus which operates from a domestic centre platform requires to be fine tuned due to the onset of such complex interplay where citizen is the key player.

 
Round Table Discussion on Women Empowerment: Are men equal Partners? Organized by Centre for Public Policy in association with ASSOCHAM. The session was inaugrated by Ms. Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament who delivered the keynote address. The Inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Syeeda Hameed Member of Planning Commission. Ms. Mohini Giri, Former Chair Person, National Commission for Women chaired the Technical session. Those who participated were Dr. Ranjana Kumari, President, Centre for Social Research; Ms. Madhu Kishwar, Editor, Manushi; Ms. Ganga Gupta, Programme Officer The Hunger Project; The perspective from Pakistan was presented by Ms. Mossarat Qadeem, ( who headed Pakistani delegation to India); Dr. Azra Abidi – Secretary, Muslim Women’s Forum & Asst. Prof., Dept. of Sociology, Jamia Milia Islamia, Mr. George Mathew, Director – Institute of Social Sciences were among those who addressed the gathering.
